A Sunny Afternoon in Dublin
After a longer than anticipated break over the winter, I finally got back out and about with the camera yesterday. Three or four times a year, I try to join up with the monthly Dublin street photography group, organised by fellow Bray man and legendary street photographer Des Byrne. The weather was very spring-like yesterday and it was extremely pleasant strolling the streets of Dublin in excellent company. As per usual, I didn’t manage to capture that one amazing, timeless street photo! However, here is a selection of my shots from yesterday, taken mainly around the Grafton Street, George’s Street Market and Temple Bar areas – a snapshot of the sights and scenes I encountered one particular sunny spring afternoon in Dublin. I hope you enjoy them.
Nice work – I really like these. It’s amazing how many people are on their phones on the street.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Bill. It’s also amazing how many people on the street are blissfully unaware that you are taking their photo! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment.
Really excellent John. I was down there a couple of weeks ago and loved it, although I was taking cityscape/landmarks etc. I would have no aptitude for what you’ve achieved here at all. Great shots.
Many thanks Aidy. I’ve been doing this street stuff for a couple of years now and I love it – its a buzz. I also count myself lucky that so far no one has accosted me!
Good work John, some good memories evoked by those shots. Dublin looks great anytime but especially when the sun’s out. That’s the spit of Luke Kelly at the doorway there 🙂
Thanks Roy. The guy with the red beard looks like a bit of a character alright. Thanks very much for the re-blog – much appreciated. 🙂
Reblogged this on Back On The Rock and commented:
Some great images of Dublin’s shopping streets by John Ivory.
Love it! As I mentioned on Roy’s blog, this is definitely people watching at its best.
Many thanks, Jill. 🙂
