Bray Charities’ Sea Swim 2015
This time last year the annual Bray Charities’ Sea Swim was postponed due to inclement weather – rough seas to be precise. This year it was touch-and-go with the weather looking quite ominous. However, the event proceeded as planned and despite occasional (horizontal) rain, I managed to get a few photos.
This is the 32nd year of this event which has the dual purposes of having some festive fun whilst raising funds for local charities. To date, the event has realised in excess of €300,000 for a long list of worthy local causes.
The occasion is always very enjoyable and colourful, with many of the swimmers turning out in fancy dress. Below is my photo-report from this year’s event.

Chief organiser – John McEvoy – doing a last-minute clear-out before the swimmers arrive.

Lions Club members out in force to ensure everything runs smoothly.

“You did say the water is warm today, isn’t it”?

A swimmer, in wig, big hat and sunglasses, going to great lengths not to be recognised…

“Anyone for a hot toddy”?

“Yeah, I’ll have one”.

“Cheers”! …. They won’t be smiling in 5 minutes time …..

There are always a few late arrivals ….

“I say old chap, splendid day for a dip in the ocean”. “Eh, yeah – can we not wait till it gets a bit warmer”?

There was a range of festive head wear on display ….

That’s quite enough swimming for one day …

Was it cold?

“Cold? Not a bit. We’re having a jolly good time”.

“Any hot toddies left”?

“Peace, man”.

You just can’t get away from water charges protesters ….

Seamus the Leprechaun makes a hasty exit. Goldilocks, however, comes a cropper.

Excellent recovery!

This just about sums up Liverpool’s season so far ….
Must have been terrible not being able to get in to the water because of the camera John 🙂
I was gutted, Aidy 😉
