Just Be You! – Dublin Pride 2015
This year’s Dublin Gay Pride parade (or to give it its more inclusive title, Dublin LGBTQ Parade), in the wake of the recent successful referendum on same-sex marriage, was the largest to date. It was also my first time to attend this event. Colourful, fun, energetic, vibrant, positive, quirky – are just some of the terms that come to mind to describe this wonderful event. I plan to make a return visit next year!
From the viewpoint of street photography, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Tons of photo-ops for sure. However, many street photography purists frown on posed shots. I tend to shy away from them myself too. However, ‘shy’ is not a word that comes to mind when describing the participants in the Pride parade. The mere sight of a camera and all kinds of poses were being struck. All part of the fun! Anyway, here are some of my favourite shots from the day – and yes, some of them are posed, as I was given no choice!
And the important message is …….
This guy’s expression probably sums it up best of all ……..
You’ve definitely got a kanck for street photography John. Great shots.
Thanks Aidy … this was a great event for anyone new to street photography … it was almost difficult to get some people NOT to pose!
